first lieutenant, but declined; service, 100 days; discharged at Cleveland, August 27, 1864

pg 28: John Kimble-volunteered for the defense of the nation, enrolling his name among those of the boys in blue who entered
its service. He was faithful and zealous soldier, serving through his term of enlistment with credit, and receiving honorable
discharge from the service, The parents of the subject of this sketch are Nathan and Mary (Bogurt) Kimble, and he was born
on the 3d day of July, 1828, in Wyandotte county, Ohio. At McCutchensville, Wyandotte county, Ohio, he was united in the holy
bands of matrimony with Rebecca, daughter of Solomon and Rosanna Shrodes. She was born in Virginia, May 5, 1833. Mr Kimble
is one of the most energetic and successful farmers in Seneca township, and postoffice address is Adrian, Seneca county, Ohio.
